 ---------- Single Spies is the collective name for an espionage double b
 ill of one-act plays about the two most infamous spies of the 20th centu
 ry\, Guy Burgess and Sir Anthony Blunt. As members of the 'Cambridge Fiv
 e' – the spy ring recruited at Cambridge University in the 1930s – t
 hey spied for Russia during and immediately after World War II. An Engli
 shman Abroad\, is centred on a meeting between Burgess\, who had fled to
  Russia\, and Coral Browne\, a leading actress appearing with the Royal 
 Shakespeare Company on an exchange visit to Moscow. Overjoyed to see som
 eone from his former life in England\, the play chronicles the pair's fl
 eeting friendship and Burgess' attempts to cling to his way of life as a
  Soviet citizen. A Question of Attribution\, follows Sir Anthony Blunt w
 orking as Surveyor of the Queen's Pictures. Perfectly at home in Bucking
 ham Palace\, he frequently encounters Her Majesty and has a special fond
 ness for one particular Titian. However\, there is one small problem: th
 e painting\, like Blunt himself\, is a fake. Is the Queen aware that her
  enigmatic servant might also be other than he seems? Both Burgess and B
 lunt were part of the Establishment and the plays are not only highly en
 tertaining but also raise questions about whom you should be loyal to\, 
 your country or your tribe. Single Spies ist das Doppelprogramm bestehen
 d aus zwei Spionage-Einaktern über die zwei berüchtigtsten Spione des 
 20. Jahrhunderts\, Guy Burgess und Sir Anthony Blunt. Als Mitglieder der
  „Cambridge Five“ – ein Spionagering\, der in den 1930er Jahren an
  der Universität Cambridge rekrutiert wurde – spionierten sie währen
 d und unmittelbar nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg für Russland. An Englishma
 n Abroad handelt von der Begegnung zwischen Guy Burgess\, der nach Russl
 and geflohen ist\, und Coral Browne\, einer renommierten Schauspielerin 
 der Royal Shakespeare Company\, die im Rahmen eines Kulturaustauschs in 
 Moskau gastiert. Überglücklich\, jemanden aus seiner früheren englisc
 hen Lebenswelt wiederzutreffen\, zeichnet das Stück die kurze\, intensi
 ve Annäherung der beiden nach und zeigt Burgess’ zugleich tragikomisc
 he Versuche\, an seiner Rolle als sowjetischer Staatsbürger und an den 
 Resten seiner früheren Identität festzuhalten. A Question of Attributi
 on begleitet Sir Anthony Blunt in seiner Funktion als Surveyor of the Qu
 een’s Pictures. Ganz selbstverständlich bewegt er sich im Buckingham 
 Palace\, begegnet regelmäßig der Königin und hegt eine besondere Vorl
 iebe für einen bestimmten Tizian. Doch es gibt ein Problem: Das Gemäld
 e ist – wie Blunt selbst – eine Fälschung. Ist sich die Königin be
